Three Decisions
Inspired by Tony Robbins · Awaken the Giant Within Go to the source ↗
Everything turns on a decision, and the decision is the part that is entirely yours: what you focus on, what you decide it means, and what you do about it. Every card here is one of those three, made small enough to actually make today — and a decision you have not acted on is still a wish.
What am I focusing on?
I decide what I am looking at today rather than let it be chosen for me, looking for what is already going right before what is not — and when something else has taken the attention, I choose again.
I notice the question I have been asking myself and replace it with one that has an answer I could act on, then ask it first thing, before the day starts asking.
What am I deciding this means?
I say what happened plainly, find one other explanation before settling on the first, and choose the meaning I could act on. If I have turned it into a verdict about myself, I stop there.
What am I actually going to do?
I name the next physical action rather than the whole undertaking, and do it within the hour. Until then the decision is unmade.
What am I cutting off?
I name the option I have been keeping open and say the no that makes a particular yes possible, closing it somewhere visible — a message, a calendar, a person.
What do I do with my body?
I stand up and change how I am breathing, walk for two minutes, and then make the decision I have been putting off.
